January Prayer Letter

DENVER CHRISTMAS CONFERENCE 

Can one week really change your life? Yes! We see it every year and DCC 2015 was no different. Football player, Tre attended his first DCC and saw his life changed in huge ways. Here’s what Tre had to say about his experience:“God has used me in ways I could never imagine. My small group and I went out to the city and shared the gospel with the homeless. That was the first time I've done something like that. God gave me the words and I felt free to do his work. What I'm most impressed with is the great Godly people I've been with on this journey. God has truly used this experience to change my life and I'm so sad to be leaving DCC. I'm grateful for these people and this experience.”

Thank you for your prayers for our time at DCC. Even though all three of us experienced sickness while we were there God used us to bless students. We are grateful to be a small piece of what makes DCC great.

Melissa’s athlete’s seminar was well attended and the athletes were challenged to leave a legacy on their campus that would last beyond their sport. 

DAY OF FAITH

One of the best things about DCC is the opportunity to see changed lives as 1,000 Cru students and staff go into the heart of Denver to share the Gospel. This year, we specifically desired to minister to the 6,000+ homeless people scattered throughout Denver to meet both the physical and spiritual needs. As one can imagine, it was a humbling time and in many cases, the lives that were changed were our own.

One changed life was Rachel from Missouri State University. Last year at DCC, Rachel was not excited about the Day of Faith because evangelism frightened her. During that day in 2014, she spent most of her time not participating. This year, she was asked to be a small group leader but hesitated because she knew she would have to lead on the Day of Faith. The night before, she spent time in prayer asking the Lord to give her excitement for evangelism. She woke up Wednesday morning excited and eager for the day. Rachel and her small group loved the faith experience and she did not shy away from evangelism. She is excited to get back to campus and make evangelism more of a norm.

The day of faith is more than an experience. It is an opportunity to trust God in new ways. It redefines our priorities, our purposes, and our values. What went on was our ongoing transformation from being self-centered believers into Christ-centered laborers.

PRAYER REQUESTS

• Pray for the students that attended DCC. Pray that the things they learned and experienced would impact them for the rest of their lives. 
• Please pray for the beginning of the Spring semester. We look forward to re-engaging with students in Southwest Missouri.
• Praise God with us. Our fellow SWMO staffers Brandon and Michelle welcomed their baby girl, Belle, into the world this month. Pray for them as they transition into parenthood and balance ministry.

What's next? I will be speaking at the Drury and MSU athlete large group meetings on January 25th and 27th. Please pray the Spirit speaks through me and impacts the lives of those in attendance.
